Greenup County's Aaron Thompson launches State Representative Campaign
Frankfort, KY - Greenup County Republican Aaron Thompson filed his paperwork on December 11th with the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office to be a candidate for Kentucky State Representative in the 98th District. The 98th District includes Northeast Kentucky communities in Greenup County and a portion of Boyd County.
“As your State Representative, I pledge to commit myself to serving the people of Northeast Kentucky, and will be a determined advocate for our region,” said Thompson. “On Day One, I’ll be prepared and ready to get to work in five key areas:
1) Prioritizing economic and workforce development and retention for Eastern Kentucky;
2) Making Kentucky more economically competitive and eliminating the state income tax;
3) Ensuring efficient operation and fiscal management of State Government;
4) Continuing development of infrastructure including internet and cell phone reception alongside our county officials; and
5) Supporting public policy through a Christian, Constitutional, and Conservative viewpoint.”
Thompson has the required experience to make him an effective State Representative. As an Executive Director and Field Representative in the Kentucky Governor’s Office and Department for Local Government, Thompson worked closely with leaders across state government to deliver for Kentuckians each and every day. Before serving in the Governor’s Office, Thompson was a Director of Special Projects for a U.S. Congressman, and assisted Kentuckians navigate the federal government.
A native of South Shore and current resident of Russell, Aaron is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Greenup County High School.
Thompson was joined by his wife Brittany, daughter Davis, mother Beth, State Rep. Danny Bentley, and State Rep. Shane Baker (photo attached). Bentley recently announced his retirement from the Kentucky House’s 98th District at the end of his fourth term in December 2024.
